Chris Daniels & The Kings perform “I Like Your Shoes” at Second Story Garage.
When Daniels started performing in the area, he was a member of Magic Music, which the Colorado Music Hall of Fame called “one of the first neo-hippie jam bands.”
Before Magic Music, Daniels was more of a folk artist. But for the past 30 years he has reigned as frontman of Chris Daniels & The Kings, a go-to Front Range band that has taken its horn-heavy R&B sound well beyond Colorado.
Daniels’ talent and longtime presence on the local scene earned him an induction into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame last year. He was the first Hall of Famer we’ve had in the Garage. Even better, he brought with him guest singer Freddy Gowdy, who gained fame on the Colorado music scene with the Freddi-Henchi band.
Daniels, Gowdy and The Kings gave us a high-energy session with the songs “I Like Your Shoes,” “Dance, Dance, Dance” and “She’s the Reason,” then took a couple minutes to talk with Quentin.
What they brought: A Chris Daniels & The Kings banner.
